Associate Professor MD Ph.D Octav Ginghină

Assoc. Prof. habil. PhD MD Octav Ginghină, affiliated to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest, “Sf. Ioan” Clinical Emergency Hospital Bucharest and also founder of OpTeam, is an experienced surgeon in the field of oncologic surgery, with main focus on gastrointestinal and endocrine oncological pathologies. From the very beginning of his medical career he approached a patient-centered strategy and made a personal goal out of improving methods and procedures to reduce patients’ suffering while maintaining excellent therapeutic outcomes. With the vision that surgeons team up with their patients, transferring their entire operational and tactical experience, he deeply resonates with the concept of personalized medicine that he applies in his daily practice. In this view, not only that he had continuously trained his surgical skills approaching laparoscopic surgery in his current practice and introducing cutting-edge robotic surgery in the Romanian medical landscape, but he has also developed in the last 7 years an ascending research component in his career. With this respect, his experience and international visibility are proved by the following scientometric data: (i) 35 ISI indexed papers of which 12 as main author, (ii) Guest editor in 2 Special Issues in Frontiers in Oncology and Cancers MDPI, (iii) key expert in 5 research projects and team leader in 1 national research grant and (iv) Member of EAHPBA audit committee
